Google DeepMind is betting $75 million on the future of artificial intelligence in Hollywood with A24 deal


A new alliance has been formed between a Hollywood studio and a tech giant.

Google announced DeepMind on Monday $75 million investment (according to the Wall Street Journal) to the popular independent film studio A24, known for hits like “Marty Supreme,” “Everything Everywhere All At One,” and the recent blockbuster “Backrooms.” Google DeepMind accounts for the investment as a partnership, a “The first of its kind” Which will see the two companies create AI tools for filmmaking, with Google DeepMind receiving “feedback and guidance from leading artists.” A24 has recently worked with big names like Timothée Chalamet and Anne Hathaway on several projects.

Despite the controversy surrounding Hollywood over the use of AI in films, A24 would not be the first studio to explore incorporating AI into the creative process. Netflix It announced earlier this year that it was buying Ben Affleck’s company InterPositive, which creates artificial intelligence tools for filmmakers.
