in Google I/O On Tuesday, we finally got to see what Google and Samsung future smart glasses He will appear in different design variations made with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. And I got to show what else the glasses can do, even though I haven’t worn the Warby and Gentle Monster models yet.
The “smart glasses” don’t have official names yet, which Google’s head of XR, Shahram Izadi, told me is up to individual eyeglass makers. But the glasses will be officially released in the fall, while Samsung’s Unpacked event in July will go into more detail.

The glasses will come in single-screen and no-screen models, all with single cameras, microphones and speakers, just like Meta’s Ray-Ban line. It will also work with WearOS watches, trigger notifications and widgets from Android phones, or even pair with iOS phones to some extent.
Gentle Monster frames look even more premium.
Izadi told me that both display and non-display models should support a wide range of prescriptions, which is something I hope will support my eyes. The Meta’s viewing glasses don’t do that. However, it appears that the audio glasses will be launched first this fall, while the display-enabled models will be launched at a later date.
I got a full early look at the entire Google Glass lineup, including Project Aura, and spoke to Samsung and Google about it. The only thing I didn’t do was wear the new designs.
