After the cold winter months, spring has arrived. You may be thinking about planning some outdoor activities for you and others to enjoy, and hiking is a great way to get out and explore. When Apple released iOS 18 In September, some improvements were made to your device iPhone Maps application. Now you can plan your hiking – or walking and running – route before heading out.
Creating a personalized itinerary can keep you on track so you don’t get lost abroad. This feature can also tell you the distance of the track, as well as your elevation while on the track. If you’re in Denver, I imagine it just says, “Up there.”
Here’s how to create your own custom route in Apple Maps on your iPhone.
1. It opens maps.
2. Either tap on the blue icon that marks your current location or long press near where you want to start your route to drop a pin.
3. Click on the three dots (…) across the bottom of the screen.
4. handle Create a custom route.
From here you have to plot your route by clicking on your map. You can tap intersections and landmarks — like restaurants and shops — and the app will start mapping your route. You can also click on unmarked intersections and locations on your map for a more detailed approach to creating your route.
You don’t have to click on a location near the last waypoint either. After clicking Create a custom routeYou can tap on a location miles away and Maps will create a route for you. It’s important to note that if you click on a location that’s miles away from where you start your route, the maps will find a path that doesn’t involve busting through walls like the Kool-Aid Man. In this respect, creating a route is just like getting driving directions on maps.
As you create your route, Maps will also give you three route options if you click on your original location: Reverse, Out & Back, and Close Loop. Going back reverses your path so that where you originally started is where your path now ends. Out & Back draws your path on top of itself so that you start and end where you started on a single path. Close Loop also ends your path where you started but for paths that are circular in nature.
Maps make it easy to close the loop or finish your route.
Once you have created your route, click Save road You will be asked to name your path. Then tap the blue check mark in the upper right corner of the new menu. The Maps app will also download your personalized route to your iPhone, so you won’t have to worry about losing reception, especially if you’re hiking in the wilderness.
After you save your custom route, it will be moved to your library in Maps. Here’s how to get there.
1. Open Maps.
2. Click on your profile icon to the right of the Maps search bar.
3. handle Places.
4. handle Roads.
5. Decide which route you want to take.
You can find your routes here, in Maps.
After you select a route, Maps will display it on your map. If you’re near the beginning of your route, tap He goes And your iPhone will give you directions along your way. If you’re not near the start of the route, you can click Directions The Maps app will show you how to get to the start of your route.
