Atlas of Artificial Intelligence

Depending on the task at hand, Gemini can previously create a document in chat that you’ll need to copy and paste into your program of choice. This also means that you may have to spend some time reformatting it to your liking.

Now, all you have to do is ask Gemini to create the type of file you want, such as “Create PDF,” and it will work.

To test this, I asked Gemini to create a quick grocery list of easy meals. This was done easily enough, but then I asked to save the list as a PDF. After a few seconds, a fully formatted PDF file was created (with a little embellishment), which I could send to my email for easy access.

Google says that for most formats, you’ll be able to download the file directly from the chat, but in some cases, you’ll need to export it to Google Drive, which is just a click away.

Here are the available layouts that Gemini can create for you in chat:

  • Google Docs
  • Google Sheets
  • Google Docs
  • Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • PDF
  • Plain text (TXT)
  • Rich Text Format (RTF)
  • Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
  • CSV
  • rubber
  • Markdown (MD)

File creation in Gemini is rolling out to all Gemini app users globally.
