Using binoculars with more than 10x magnification without a tripod or stable support can result in blurry images because humans are simply unable to steady them sufficiently by hand. Even imperceptible hand movements are amplified through the scope, making it difficult to focus on a distant magnified target.
The new Fujifilm models are based on a gimbal-stabilized prism with three plus and minus degrees of electronic stabilization. It’s also significantly smaller and lighter than the company’s existing ones Techno Stabi TS-X14x40 binoculars -Weighs 1.88 lbs instead of 2.9 lbs – making it easier for bird watchers to keep on their hikes.
The two new models don’t completely replace the heavier and bulkier Fujifilm TS-X14x40 binoculars. Although the older model only offers 14x magnification for the same price as the company’s new 20x offering, it features a more robust design with six plus and minus stops of electronic stabilization.

Other features of the new TS-L2040 and TS-L1640 include 40mm objective lenses on the front that let in more light for enhanced brightness. Cheapest Fujifilm stabilized telescope $749.95 TS12x28WPIt has a much smaller front lens at just 28mm.
Both new models are powered by a pair of AAA batteries that Fujifilm says will keep image stabilization going for up to 30 hours. The binoculars will also automatically turn off after 60 minutes if you forget, so if you’re heading out on a weekend birdwatching trip, you probably won’t need to pack an extra set of AAAs.
