Fitness tracking app Strava is upgrading its strength training feature

Strava, one of Best exercise apps on CNETannounced on Thursday that members will be able to sync and receive 14 new fitness partner integrations Strength training Upgrades, including a workout log, auto-populated muscle maps, and the ability to track, record, and share their lifts alongside other activities they already log on Strava. The launch will take place in the coming weeks.

“This overhaul brings the same depth, motivation, and engagement potential that Strava is known for to countless strength activities,” Matt Salazar, chief product officer at Strava, said in a statement.

This addition is intended to support members who are training for racing, as well as those who enjoy lifting weights for fitness or strength. “They now have the tools to get where they are, and this is just the beginning,” Salazar adds.

Partner integrations make this transition easier because athletes can connect popular fitness apps and devices they already use directly to Strava. New partners include Garmin, Amazfit, Runna, Whoop, 24 Hour Fitness (coming this summer), and more.

Strava acknowledges that strength training has become an integral part of most people’s exercise regimen. “Power has been one of the fastest growing sports genres on Strava for some time, with over 500 million uploads in 2025 alone, and our community has been clear about what it needs from us,” Salazar said.

New updates members can expect include:

Automatically populated muscle maps: The strength training workouts they record will show a visual muscle map of the muscle groups trained based on the data they share.

Exercise log: Members can log their sets, reps and weights in a logbook designed for strength training. The log is intended to help track strength exercises over time, so it’s easier to review and repeat workouts.

Five new posts: Similar to the recognition other activities receive on Strava, there will be five new strength-specific posts that celebrate members’ lifts and progress with friends, clubs, and the Strava community.

Strava is my favorite app for tracking running workouts, and as a fitness guru, I find it helpful to have a space where I can include strength training as well. Strava recognizes that strength training is becoming more popular, and it will be interesting to see how other athletes respond to the updated feature.
