DHS Electoral Security officials confirms CISA on vacation

The Ministry of Internal Security has put in place the CISA Security Agency (CISA) several members of the electoral security team in the administrative vacation.

In a statement by Techcrunch, Tricia McLAGHLIN, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) confirmed that CISA employees working in foreign influence and misinformation have been placed on administrative leave.

McLauthlin did not confirm the number of employees who were on vacation, but they did not oppose the 17th number that Associated Press.

“While the evaluation agency is taking place, the employees who worked on wrong and bad information, as well as foreign influence and misinformation, were placed on an administrative leave.”

The affected employees worked with election officials to confront a group of cybersecurity threats, including the ransom and material security of the election workers. According to Associated Press, 10 employees were regional security officials who were appointed to support security in the elections before the 2024 elections.

The reported move comes amid uncertainty about the future of Cisa, which was formed in 2018 during the first Trump administration. President Trump has not yet released an alternative to the former CISA director Jane Cityly, who left the agency on January 20.

When it was reached for the comment, CISA was postponed to DHS.
