Chinese social media app RedNote tops App Store list before TikTok ban


RedNote, the Chinese social media app also known as Xiaohongshu, rose to first place On the Apple App Store As the US ban on TikTok approaches. The app offers a mix of photos, short videos, and text posts across the “Following,” “Explore,” and “Nearby” feeds.

A quick scroll through RedNote’s Explore page shows English-language posts interspersed among those written in Chinese. Many American users call themselves “TikTok refugees” in videos, while others write in text posts that they are looking for a new community due to a potential TikTok ban. Some even ask Chinese users questions, such as “What are some popular memes in China?”

RedNote, which launched in 2013 as a shopping-focused app, now has more than 300 million monthly active users and topped $1 billion in revenue last year. according to Bloomberg.
