China has responded to Donald Trump’s new commercial tariffs on its own charges of US imports. After Trump announced the imposition of additional 34 percent fees on Chinese imports in the United States, China announced a tax on the same rate of American goods shipped to China.
In a statement announcing the new customs tariffs, the China Ministry of Finance announced that the American customs tariff for Chinese goods “seriously undermines the legitimate rights and interests of China”, and described it as “a model of exemplary that is bullied by one side.”
The Chinese tax will enter into force on April 10, one day after the start of the new US tariff. according to New York TimesChina also banned 11 American companies from doing business in China, and imposed strict borders on exports of some rare ground elements used in electric cars and other technology.
