I can read one or three books a week, depending on my schedule. I truly feel that there is nothing better than immersing yourself in the plot, and specifically, diving into the minds of the characters. I’ve always been drawn to fantasy books, with their charming, world-building, action-packed scenes. Like a lot of people, I was really aching to be at Hogwarts when I was reading the Harry Potter series for the first time. As artificial intelligence advances, we are getting closer to reality where we can dive into those favorite stories.
New feature for Personality.AIwhich launched on Thursday, is an AI-powered role-playing experience that lets you play as a character within your own classic literary text. The feature, called Books, will launch with more than 20 public domain titles, including Alice in Wonderland, Pride and Prejudice, Dracula, Frankenstein, Romeo and Juliat, and The Great Gatsby.
This new feature moves beyond the standard open-ended interactive chat offered by Character.AI to an immersive storytelling and narrative-driven entertainment experience.
Character.AI appears to be taking a step back from simply offering open chat functionality, which could be dangerous for emotionally vulnerable users or teens. Google and Character.AI both Lawsuits settled Earlier this year, there were allegations that these AI-powered chatbots caused emotional harm to minors and led to children dying by suicide. Last year, Character.AI made sweeping policy and safety changes, banning anyone under 18 from using the platform for open chats.

You can get into the story, talk to its characters, and play as one person.
How books work
To get started, you can log in to the Character.AI website and select whether you want to interact with Story Modes or Alternate Universe Remixes.
In story modes, you can choose to role-play as a specific character from a book or as your own character from Character.AI. You can then choose to follow the original plot of the story Place the book bracket Or create your own narrative with Exit script mode. Character.AI is planning to launch more modes soon, e.g Click on Talea more guided mode that offers pre-written prompts that you can choose to drive the narrative.

You can play The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland and interact with characters like Alice and the Duchess.
You can also remix the entire world of classic literature with Alternate Universe Remixes. In this mode, you can set Alice in Wonderland in space or make Elizabeth Bennet a modern rom-com heroine.
Books are now available for Personality.AI Plus subscribers on both mobile and web as part of Personality.AI Laboratories.
