Champagne and Bullets belongs on the Mount Rushmore of bad movies

There’s something about a movie like The room, Troll 2or Fateful results Which I find irresistible. This “so bad that it’s good” kind of film is a fascinating curiosity where ambition far outstrips resources, ability and self-awareness to become something much greater than the sum of its parts. Champagne and bullets (It was also released as GetEven and The path to revenge) is a film on par with the classics of outsider cinema.

The film is almost entirely the work of one man, John De Hart. Hart wrote, directed and stars as Rick Budd in the film. He even performs a musical number early in the proceedings – “The Stranger.”Chimi sliceDuring the performance, Hart, who was… It is said Pumped full of painkillers after throwing his back, he stiffens and looks around the room as if he was only performing under the threat of violence. And somehow, this lifeless performance by the annoying country rocker isn’t the most awkward scene in the movie.

Relationships and interactions between characters in Champagne and bullets Inexplicable and unnatural as those found in The room. Bode and his partner Huck Finney are two cops who lose their badge five minutes into the movie. This precipitates the alarmingly rapid mental decline of Vinnie, who also goes through a divorce after discovering that his wife has been sleeping around. He shot his bills, drank bleach to get out of prison, and apparently started a cult.

Oh, and speaking of cults, a big part of the plot revolves around the resurfacing of Bodhi’s old friend Cindy, who is on the run from a satanic cult that “sacrificed a human child.”

Although ostensibly an action film, fight scenes are few and far between, and are staged with all the credibility of a stunt show in an amusement park. Hart seemed more interested in cramming in as much gratuitous nudity as possible. There are three long and uncomfortable sex scenes with star Pamela Bryant, who plays Cindy, all set to songs sung by Hart. In all, it takes 12 minutes of running time in a movie that is only 90 minutes long. One scene taking place in a jacuzzi apparently prompted Hart’s girlfriend at the time to break up with him. (Warning: One scene not involving Hart and Bryant depicts sexual assault.)
