Best Red Light Therapy Devices of 2026, FDA Tested and Approved

The market is saturated with red light therapy products, so even if you don’t choose one I personally recommend, keep these features in mind when shopping.

Wavelength: This is one of the most important specifications for me. Red light in the range of 630 to 660 nm and near infrared light from 810 to 850 nm is the most clinically studied. Anything less than this will not be effective.

Radiation: This specification is the intensity of light energy delivered to your skin over a certain distance. In general, look for 20 to 50 mW/cm2 for wearable masks, and 50 to 100 mW/cm2 for panels used over greater distances.

FDA approval or registration: FDA licensure requires the manufacturer to submit clinical studies proving that the product is safe and effective. On the other hand, FDA registration means that the device has been submitted and registered with the FDA. FDA approval is a more stringent process, so we prioritized products that contain them over those that do not.

Special Features: Although this is not necessary for the effectiveness of red light therapy, look for features that make your treatment time more enjoyable. For example, some of the products on this list offer cryotherapy or flexible shapes so you can use them on different parts of the body.
