In my experience, the Surface Laptop has some features that make it superior to the MacBook Air. The screen’s 3:2 aspect ratio is great, and is my favorite feature. The taller screen size gives you more vertical space to work with, which I find enjoyable while browsing the web and useful for work. It’s true that the price has definitely gone up over the past year, which is unfortunate. So there is New model (much more expensive). Which just became available with Snapdragon X2. But if you’re looking for a decent MacBook replacement for around the same price, this is it.

Best deal for cheap laptop

Laptops under $750 have a bad reputation, and more often than not, they’ve earned it themselves. But there are some standout features, most notably the HP OmniBook 5. Whether it’s a 14-inch or a 16-inch, both come with gorgeous OLED displays that have much better color performance and a much wider contrast range. Not only that, the OmniBook 5 is a beautiful laptop in its own right, almost as thin as the MacBook Air and coming in a similar configuration.

The main downside is the trackpad. The click on the touchpad is very loud and feels unusable. This is especially true if you’re trying to do something precise like clicking and dragging. But that’s an incredible price for a premium-looking laptop with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. And did I mention that the battery life is excellent too? Thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chip, this laptop is quiet, fast, and long-lasting.

As a competitor to the iPad, the Surface Pro is really solid. It’s compact, powerful and absolutely premium. As an alternative to carrying a traditional laptop, the Surface Pro offers a sturdy case. This gaming laptop has a huge advantage over many other gaming laptops at this price. Yes, it’s thick. And yes, the aesthetic is not for everyone. But the screen, build quality, keyboard and touchpad are a solid step up over even some of our favorite budget gaming laptops, like the Lenovo LOQ 15. The screen in particular is very nice, sharper at 2560 x 1600 resolution and more colorful than gaming laptops at this price. This makes it fun to use, both in and out of gaming.

The problem is that the Alienware 16X Aurora is typically priced hundreds of dollars higher than other cheap gaming laptops. But for Prime Day, the price has dropped to a more attractive price, making it one of the best laptop deals I’ve found this year.
