Privacy will be a major topic when Apple unveils a new version of Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
The relaunch of Siri is widely seen as a big opportunity for Apple to re-establish its importance in the field of artificial intelligence. As part of that effort, company executives will argue that it takes a more privacy-friendly approach than most other AI companies, Gorman said.
Apple will reportedly launch its first standalone Siri app Powered by Google Gemini It offers users a chatbot experience reminiscent of ChatGPT. But compared to other chat software, the app supposedly has more restrictions on how long user information can be used and stored.
For example, Gorman said Siri could include a feature similar to the Messages app, allowing users to automatically delete conversations after 30 days or one year — or keep them indefinitely.
Gorman also suggested that Apple may be emphasizing privacy as a way to justify Siri’s shortcomings compared to competing products — and that this focus may obscure the fact that Google takes issue with some security measures.
