Apple Certified renewal The store was a haven for people balking at the prices of new Apple products, but it offered little shelter from existing prices. And it is increasing across many of its lines. Refurbished items are also more expensive.

The refurbished Apple Store inventory fluctuates wildly, but comparing some current items as of June 25 with listings on the Internet Archive Wayback machine It detects price bumps of about 6% to 15%.

For example, a refurbished 15-inch MacBook Air M4 with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage cost $929 on June 14, and is now priced at $1,019, an increase of $90. It originally sold for $1,199.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage was $1,359 on June 14, and is now priced at $1,439, up $80. Its original price was $1,599.
Raising these prices by less than $100 doesn’t seem like much of a difference, except that these devices have existing memory and processors — and Apple likely won’t be supplying new components. However, there is no visibility into what goes into each refurbished product, so it is possible that these items contain new logic boards. But they may also have needed new screens or replacement cases.
An Apple Certified Refurbished Store can get great deals on refurbished gear, but they also see price increases.
Refurbished iMac models are seeing a bigger increase. The refurbished 24-inch iMac M4 with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage was $1,099 on June 14 and now costs $1,269, a difference of $170.
Macs aren’t the only refurbished products seeing higher costs. The 13-inch iPad Pro M4 (Wi-Fi model) with 256GB of storage sold for $1,019 on June 14, and is now $150 more expensive at $1,169.
Prices for new Apple TV and HomePod configurations also saw increases, but as of June 25, Apple did not list any refurbished inventory.
These are the costs of an authorized refurbished Apple Store. From a cursory glance, it appears that the price jumps haven’t trickled down to other stores that sell refurbished Apple products, e.g Best buy. These also include older models which can be great deals if you don’t need a device this year or even last year.
