Apple has released iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 updates for iPhone And iPad that provides “bug fixes and security updates,” as per the company’s standard for releases like these.
According to Apple A document detailing the security content Of the updates, Wednesday’s release notes mention a change in notification services: “The logging issue has been addressed through improved data redaction,” the notes read.
To update your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings And click general. Next, select Software update And then Update now And follow the prompts.
It’s easy to ignore small updates like this, but sometimes there’s an issue that needs to be addressed right away. When Apple released iOS 26.4.1 in early April, it enabled Protect stolen devices A feature on iPhones to enhance security against known vulnerabilities.
Note that this update does not appear to fall into a category Background security improvementswhich are installed quietly behind the scenes when important security updates are needed.
