The ability to connect to multiple high-resolution displays means you can run an entire workstation comfortably, as long as you’ve got it USB hub Or a Thunderbolt Dock for more ports. That’s the power of those two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left side of the MacBook Air. My only complaint is that they’re all on the left, which means you can’t charge the device from the right side. Meanwhile, storage speed is on par with the M5 MacBook Pro (and about six times faster than the MacBook Neo), with an average read/write speed of 6,740MB per second. That’s a huge jump in speed over all previous MacBook Airs, speeding up everything from opening apps to transferring large files. It’s one of the reasons (besides the limited 16GB of RAM) why people who spend eight or more hours working on a laptop every day want a MacBook Air instead of a MacBook Neo.

The Dell XPS 13, currently priced at just $850, is closer in size to the 13-inch MacBook Air and uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chipset as the Surface Laptop. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a bright, high-resolution display. Extremely lightweight Asus ZenBook A14 They can’t match the MacBook Air’s display either, but they’re often on sale for hundreds of dollars less.
Finally, there it is MacBook Air 2025 M4 For consideration. If you never use heavier applications, you won’t benefit much from the difference in the M5’s performance. Storage options are also a bit different from last year, with Apple removing the 256GB model from the lineup, and the M5 starting at 512GB. You may look at the prices on Amazon and be tempted to get some cash by purchasing the M4. But, barring a sale of any kind, the 512GB MacBook Air M5 will cost only $50 more than the 512GB M4.
Despite the attractive options offered by both the MacBook Neo and a variety of different Windows laptops, the M5 MacBook Air is still the laptop most people should buy. They are well rounded, surprisingly sturdy, sophisticated, and will last for many years to come.
