Apple today announced a list of new Apple Intelligence updates across its apps on… Worldwide Developers Conference 2026including Safari tab management, one-click password updating, cross-app context recognition, and AI-powered shortcut creation via natural language.
Safari gets AI-powered tab management that automatically groups tabs by topic. It can also suggest related tabs and add them to an existing collection. The company is also adding a page monitor to Safari that notifies you when it detects changes — useful for tracking prices, news stories, or anything time-sensitive. Apple said the Safari browser can also create a custom extension using text prompts to modify a web page, a capability that until now required a developer.
The company is adding a way to update compromised passwords with one click, with Apple handling the process for you through AI and Safari, without the need for a manual login.
The Messages app gets AI-powered reply suggestions and a new ability to display images based on text descriptions, so you can find what you’re looking for without scrolling. In Calendar, users can now type in natural language to create an event — just mention the people and time, and Apple Intelligence takes care of the rest.
Perhaps the most important update for power users: Apple said the Phone app can now pull context from other apps like Mail and Messages in the middle of a call. If you’re on the phone with an airline, for example, your flight details can appear from your email in real time. It’s Apple’s answer to Google’s similar “Magic Cue” feature, and signals that the AI assistant wars are increasingly being fought at the operating system level — with your personal data being used as a differentiator.
The company is also overhauling shortcuts with AI-powered creation. Instead of manually putting together a step-by-step workflow, users can now describe what they want in plain language and the app automatically creates the shortcut – effectively providing dynamic coding for the main iPhone user.
Image Playground is also getting an important updatewith easier natural language editing and a new model capable of creating more realistic images. Users can click, circle, or use a brush to select and edit individual objects, and they can now adjust the dimensions of any created image to fit different formats — a feature that developers will likely use immediately once Apple opens up the image creation process to third parties via a new API. The app also gains the ability to create contact wallpapers and stickers.
finally, Apple is updating its photo cleaning tool With improved filling and object removal with higher quality, and the addition of an AI-powered expand tool that can expand the edges of the image. A new feature called spatial reframing lets you reposition your subject or objects within the frame – using on-device spatial models combined with the image creation model to convincingly fill in the new perspective. Apple says it’s working on old photos too, which means your existing library is now a potential target for this kind of retroactive editing.
