Amazon’s Big Summer Prime Day sale may be moving this year. Here’s what to expect and how to prepare

Amazon’s Prime Day sale is one of the biggest shopping events of the year. But for 2026, Amazon is reportedly changing the dates of its annual sales, According to Bloomberg.

Rumor has it that the online retailer will be moving the event from July to June, which means you can get your hands on some amazing deals much faster — which is a big win if you didn’t get everything on your wish list during the company’s big spring sale. But it also leaves you less time to budget and less time for competitors to plan any concurrent sales, as many have done during past Prime Day events.

Competitors will likely scramble to prepare for an early June date, or may choose to continue into July, as usual. July is a good time to promote back-to-school gear, and Prime Day usually comes right after Fourth of July sales, so companies may not find it worth chasing an Amazon Prime Day itinerary, at least for 2026. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Prime Day has traditionally been held in July, starting in 2015. However, this wouldn’t be the first shift we’ve seen. In 2020, it was postponed to October due to Covid-19; The following year, 2021, the event was held in June. In 2022, the retailer held events in July and October. In fact, the retailer extended the 48-hour sale to a full four days last year, which means we could see a similar plan rolled out this year as well.

Although you don’t have to be a Prime member to shop during the sale, many of the best Prime Day deals were previously exclusive to Prime members. If you have considered Register for a Prime membershipThis may be the right time. Prime membership comes with Lots of perks.
