AI notification summaries are returning to iPhone news apps, but with a caveat

Brought Apple AI Notice Summaries For news and entertainment apps that support Apple Intelligence technology iPhone When the company issued iOS 26 in September. Apple disabled these summaries in early 2025 after BBC indicated in December 2024 The feature distorted the media organization’s notifications and displayed inaccurate information.

Technical tips

What’s different now about these summaries is that your device settings warn you that the summaries may be inaccurate. Your device will also notice that you should check the information in these summaries, and the best way I can think of to do that is to tap the notification and read the story. This may defeat the purpose of summaries for some people, but it may also ensure that people read beyond the headline.

Here’s what to know about the AI briefs and the new warning.
