Google is making it easier to switch from iPhone to Android

Google Announce Wednesday released a new migration experience built directly into Android 17 that should make it easier to switch from iPhone to Android. Google says this feature allows users to transfer more types of data wirelessly from their iPhone without having to download a separate app.

By simplifying the setup process and supporting more types of data, the tech giant is looking to lower the barriers to switching smartphone ecosystems as it aims to attract more iPhone users.

With this new method, users can transfer photos, videos, contacts, messages, calendars and newly supported data types, including Google Account, passwords, Wi-Fi credentials and even their eSIM, when switching from iPhone to Android.

The upgrade has already started rolling out to select Pixel devices, and is also available on the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 series, which were unveiled today. Google says the new migration method will also be available on more Android devices soon.
