As part of the broader Siri redesign, Apple is expected to provide the assistant with the ability to manage multiple requests at once, offer more conversational interaction and support integration outside of ChatGPT. The company is also expected to introduce a revamped interface.
The report also shows how Apple appears to be competing head-to-head with rival Perplexity, which Apple has reportedly considered acquiring.
“For the first time, Apple is launching an internal web search product as part of Siri, competing with Perplexity AI Inc., a startup it has considered acquiring for this very purpose,” the report said. “This means Siri can answer practically any question using an internal engine instead of sending users to Google or ChatGPT. These responses include summaries, bulleted lists of information, and large, rich images.”
With the debut of a new and improved Siri seemingly imminent, it’s clear that Apple is pursuing an ambitious strategy that will set the company apart from an industry defined by the AI arms race.
