Topics now contain group conversations

Meta is Add group conversations to topicsallowing users to message multiple friends in shared conversations instead Send separate direct messages. Threads users can create a group conversation by starting a new message and adding up to 50 people who follow their Threads account. The group chat name can be customized to make it easier to identify by topic or participants, similar to how group messaging works on Facebook Messenger.

Group chat support is currently offered globally, with the exception of the UK and Australia, according to Meta spokesperson Alec Booker Edge The company is working to expand messaging to these regions “as quickly as possible.” Future updates will include improved inbox management tools and enable Threads users to invite people to group conversations by sharing a link, rather than adding them individually to the conversation.

The launch of group messaging coincides with Threads expanding messaging features to the EU “over the next few days,” including support for one-on-one direct messaging and group chats.
