82-0 is the best basketball game, to hell with NBA 2K

82-0 It marries the fun of fantasy nerd basketball with instant gratification and a little dumb luck. The goal is to build a team of players who can (theoretically) have a perfect 82-0 season.

Obviously, if you have the freedom to choose who you want through a date, there won’t be much of a challenge. The twist is that the site randomly picks a team and era, and then you pick one player. So, for example, if you took the Knicks and 2020, you might pick Jalen Brunson as your point guard, and then you’d get a new team and a new era to pick your position from.

You can edit the team once, and the era once, if you don’t like your options. But that’s it. Part of the challenge is also knowing when to settle for exactly what is in front of you, and when to hold out and hope for the best. Domantas Sabonis is an excellent player, but would you reshuffle or pick someone else from the Kings in hopes of facing Wilt Chamberlain in the later round?

There’s also a HoopIQ mode that hides all the stats and basically requires you to have an encyclopedic knowledge of basketball to record a perfect season. Honestly, though, even with the statistics right in front of you, it’s very difficult. It was the best I could get 78-4.
