1Password will allow you to let Claude use your passwords, but without seeing them

Claude can now securely sign you in to sites like Audible and Stripe thanks to a new partnership between 1Password and Anthropic. Announced on Thursdaythe new integration will allow Claude to access your password credentials without him actually seeing your passwords.

1Password says this is the first browser integration that allows agents to access credentials without granting direct access. The “zero exposure” method requires logins to be manually approved each time via biometric approval.

The new integration allows agents to use your stored credentials from 1Password, but your passwords are never passed to the form itself. 1Password showed the tool in action in a video Use it to access Audible and ask Claude to find a new audiobook based on a user’s wish list.

Another security measure is Agent Mode: When an agent completes a task on your behalf, 1Password will be automatically locked, and the agent will only be able to use previously provided logins and codes for that specific task.

Joe Subban, CNET’s resident password manager expert, expressed guarded praise for the new tool, saying, “I’m usually very cautious about giving an AI agent access to my password manager, but 1Password seems to have too many good guardrails, and it requires biometric authentication for every login.”
