“People are more willing to get their hands dirty. (They’ve become) aware of the fact that you, as a homeowner, are part of the garden team. A great garden is usually defined by the person who sees it — (which is usually) the person who lives there. Water features come up a lot. There used to be a stigma about water use, but if you do it right, it doesn’t really increase water use that much. The idea of sound in the garden needs to be taken into account — reviving the sound of the wind ringing or the sound that some plants make, (be it) bamboo, or leaves Dried, or water features —Carlos Campos Moreira, landscape designer and co-founder of AD100 GeographyLos Angeles
“We want smart technology to be more invisible. It’s not great to see screens. Of course we have to deal with environmental elements, like how to regulate thermostats and have smart homes. (We) want to feel it but not see it. We (also) want to go back to natural materials and textures. It’s more about working with artisans. (There’s) a return to the 1930s, where people were working with (craftsmen) and technologies, where the hand of the craftsmen is visible. Not everything has to be the same or perfect. —AD100 Designer Hugo ToroParis
