YouTube TV’s multi-viewing system is getting a major upgrade, allowing viewers to mix and match channels

YouTube TV has slowly expanded its multi-viewing feature over the past few years, which initially allowed sports fans to watch up to four channels simultaneously on one screen. Soon, viewers will finally have the opportunity to watch any content they choose.

In it Annual letter YouTube CEO Neil Mohan revealed Wednesday that the platform will soon offer a “fully customizable multi-view” experience. This upgrade aims to provide greater personalization by allowing viewers to create their own multiple viewing layouts, tailoring their screens to their individual interests across sports, news, entertainment and more.

YouTube TV first Rolled Multi-view feature for 2023 sports broadcasts, allowing fans to watch multiple matches at once. Advantage It expanded later to include other categories, such as news and weather, although it was initially limited to a select list of preset channels, including CNN, MSNBC, HGTV, and Food Network. Later, YouTube TV began testing a way for a small group of users to customize the channels they wanted to watch side by side without restrictions.

This new capability is expected to attract families and large families with diverse viewing preferences, as it allows watching different genres together on one screen.

To try Multi View, press the down button on your remote, then find and select the Multi View icon or View Multi View option. From there, you can choose up to three more live channels to add to your screen.

Additionally, Mohan highlighted the upcoming launch of YouTube TV Genre-specific channel packagesdesigned to give subscribers more flexibility regarding the content they pay for. For example, viewers can choose specialized packages focused on sports, news, family programming or entertainment, and customize their subscriptions to suit their interests and potential cost savings.

However, YouTube TV has not shared much about these packages, such as how much they will cost or when they will be released. We can likely expect more information to be announced in the coming months as the platform prepares for the rollout.
