YouTube is finally here on Apple Vision Pro. Can we expect more Google apps to appear?

It took two years, but YouTube is finally the Apple Vision Pro app.

This news, announced Thursday, may come as a surprise if you — like most people — haven’t tried See Apple Pro. YouTube always seems like a perfect fit for Apple’s mixed reality device, since many of the videos there are in 3D, 360-degree, or immersive 180-degree formats. However, Google and Apple haven’t figured out how to do this before. A third-party YouTube playback app, Juno, debuted shortly after the Vision Pro’s initial launch, but was pulled from the App Store.

You’ve always had the option to watch YouTube via the Safari browser. But that experience lacked much of the comprehensive 3D and 360-degree video support that Google and Samsung offer. Galaxy XR headsetwhich launched last fall, was able to show off.

YouTube’s new Vision Pro app should bring in a lot of great video options, but I hope it’s also the start of more. Apple and Google Gemini partnership AI can unlock the camera, similar to what the Galaxy XR offers. The comprehensive Google Maps app on the Galaxy XR is also great. I like that both are related to vision. YouTube may be a foot in the door for the rest of Google Apps support.
