YouTube gives more creators a way to test how different titles perform on their videos. After introducing the ability to test video titles and compare them to A “small percentage” of creators In July, it’s YouTube Now Also expandedl in YouTube Studio to “all creators with access to advanced features,” making it easier to choose the best titles to engage viewers.
This expansion builds on a tool in YouTube Studio that allows users to test performance Various video thumbnails. Creators can now upload up to three titles or a combination of titles and thumbnails to videos, with YouTube testing these options evenly across viewers for up to two weeks to evaluate which combination has the highest viewing time.
The combinations with the most watch time will be labeled as ‘winners’ and then automatically applied to the final video. If the test results are inconclusive, the first set of title and thumbnail image uploaded by the user will be applied as the default. YouTube says creators can also choose to ignore the results of these tests and manually select the video thumbnail and title of their choice.
The feature is only available on desktop, and can be applied to public long-form videos, live stream archives saved as videos, or to podcast episodes. Creators can’t run thumbnail or title tests on videos that are intended for adults or “made for kids.”
