YouTube announces a “voluntary exit program” for US employees


YouTube is conducting a “voluntary exit program” with the termination of US-based employees, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday. The news was first published by sources.

YouTube CEO Neil Mohan told employees about the program via an internal memo on Wednesday.

The memo also announced that the Google-owned company was reorganizing its product teams into three separate organizations all reporting directly to Mohan. The Subscription Products team will focus on YouTube’s subscription products across YouTube Music, Premium, and OTT.

The Viewer Products team will focus on viewer experience across the main YouTube app, YouTube Kids, learning, trust, safety, and more. Finally, Creator Products & Community will focus on supporting creators and building community.

The company says no roles have been eliminated as part of these changes.

This move comes at a time when Alphabet Third quarter earnings On Wednesday, it was reported that YouTube ad revenue reached $10.26 billion in the period, representing a 15% increase year over year.
