On Friday morning, Elon Musk’s social media site X (formerly Twitter) was offline as reports of outages grew. Within about 90 minutes, the problem appeared to be resolved.

Outage reporting site Downdetector showed reports starting just before 7 a.m. PT (10 a.m. ET) to a peak of more than 50,000. Grok, Musk’s chatbot, also showed a spike at the same time, but of a smaller magnitude. (Downdetector is owned by the same parent company as CNET, Ziff Davis.)

Internet services companies Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services also showed small hiccups in outage reports.

Power outages come as the company faces X Intensive scrutiny on non-consensual sexual images created by Grok and shared on X.
