We are witnessing self-sacrifice by a superpower

This is the end of the world as we have known it for 80 years, and all for reasons that will confound future political scientists and historians. There is no strategy behind this superpower suicide exercise other than the president’s narcissism, greed, and policies. General frustration Never being respected by the elites whose interests he desires more than anything else.

On one level, Trump’s January rampage highlights the collective failure of all the institutions, safeguards, and checks and balances the United States thought were in place to curb the madness of executive power. But the most important of these institutional collapses is the absolute cowardice shown by that narrow Republican Congress, which failed the Founders’ basic belief and confidence that the legislative branch would protect its powers and powers from the executive branch and would move first to comply with their constitutional oath and not as members of the president’s party.

Historian Barbara Tuchman once referred to the grand funeral of Edward VII of England in May 1910—a brilliantly colorful mourning procession that brought together nine kings, seven queens, and 40 Imperial and Royal Highnesses—as the last-gasp culmination of that great era of wealth and geopolitical dominance that Europe had in the 19th century, before it self-destructed in World War I and ceded control of the world to that arrogant America across the globe. One day, too, we will tell our children about January 2026 in world politics, and they will not be able to understand what we have done to ourselves. They will never be able to consider what the United States once meant to the outside world.
