Watch LG’s ClOiD robot slowly load your washing machine

LG’s CLOiD robot took the stage at CES 2026 on Monday, providing our first look at the robot in action. During LG’s keynote, the company explained how CLOiD can load your washer or dryer — albeit slowly — as part of its goal to create “The house is empty.”

CLOiD waved both of his five-fingered hands as he posed on stage. Brandt Varner, vice president of sales at LG’s home appliance division, followed suit and asked the robot to take care of the wet towel he was carrying. “Sure, I’ll start doing the laundry,” Cloyd said in a manly voice. “Let me show everyone what I can do.”

The robot’s animated eyes “blink” as it approaches the automatically opening washing machine (I hope CLOiD can open that door itself!), extends its left arm into the washing machine and drops the towel into the drum. The entire process — from getting the towel to putting it in the washer — took about 30 seconds, which makes me wonder how long it would take to load a week’s worth of laundry.

Android He returned later in the keynote To bring a bottle of water to another presenter, Steve Scarbrough, senior vice president of LG’s HVAC division. “I noticed by your voice and tone that you might want some water,” he said before handing over the bottle and hitting Scarbrough with a fist.

There’s still no word on when or if the LG CLOiD will be available for purchase at all, but at least we will You have a weird cousin to WALL-E To help with some tasks at home.
