You probably don’t need an AI smart ring to keep up with your tasks. Doistthe company behind Todoist, a popular to-do list app that works across multiple devices, launches a new AI-powered Voice for To-Do feature: Todoist Rumble. This feature allows you to describe your tasks using natural language.
True to its name, Ramble can take your rambling, disorganized speech and turn it into organized tasks. The app will also capture other details you mention, such as project deadlines, priorities, duration, and assignees.
The idea is that people often think about things they need to do on the go, but taking out their phone to jot down a note or create a reminder can be difficult. With Todoist Ramble, you still have to take out your phone, but you won’t have to type anything. Alternatively, simply tap the Ramble icon and start speaking. The app will then update in real-time with task information, and even respond to edits and changes as you speak.
For example, the company notes that you can say things like “Actually, make that Thursday” or “That’s it,” to direct the AI further as you speak.
Ramble is built on Large Language Models (LLMs) as part of a set of artificial intelligence features that the company calls Ramble Todoist Helpwhich runs on a Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Live model via Vertex AI for real-time speech understanding. As the audio flows to the back end, the form transcribes your speech and identifies the tasks, dates, and other details you mentioned to create your tasks.
Audio is not stored or used for AI training, and the app is SOC2 Type II certified, Doist says.
The functionality of AI is similar to what we see demonstrated across a variety of AI devices, which transcribe speech to turn it into notes, reminders, tasks or insights. For example, Amazon’s Bee wearable device uses artificial intelligence To take notes and provide suggested tasks, while other devices, Like those from Plaudcan take meeting notes and highlight highlights.
There is also growing interest in AI-powered smart rings, Like the Sandbar broadcast loop on startup, or Pebble index episode 01 upcoming. Both allow you to quickly tap the ring (which is worn on your index finger) to add something to your to-do list or take a note in the companion mobile app.
Prior to launch, Ramble was beta tested with all Todoist Experimental users, a group of approximately 150,000 active testers who experimented with the new features early. During the first three weeks of testing, approximately 76,000 testers completed approximately 290,000 Ramble sessions on desktop and mobile. The feature then entered public beta testing in November.
Task creation success also improved from about 40% last October to about 62% by December, prompting upgrades, Doist claims. She says new users on the entry-level plan were upgrading about five times higher than they were before using Ramble.
Todoist Ramble is available to all users across iOS, Android, desktop, and web starting today and supports 38 languages. Beginner plan users can also access this feature, but for limited sessions per month. The paid Pro and Business plans offer unlimited sessions. For easy access, the feature can be used via a Home or Lock screen shortcut on iOS and via app and widget shortcuts and quick settings tiles on Android.
