My dog, an adorable 70 pound lab mix, is perfect in every way. But I thought he was a little less ideal when he once walked through a swinging dog door followed by one of the many lizards that circled around my house on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
This shouldn’t happen again.
High Tech Pet, a long-standing player in automated pet access, is featured here in Consumer Electronics Show 2026 The recently launched Power Pet Roll-Up Door is fully automatic, Smart pet door with Wi-Fi technology Designed to address the security, insulation and comfort issues common with traditional pet doors.
Unlike traditional pet doors that swing open or use flexible tabs, the Power Pet Folding Door opens vertically using a motorized winding mechanism. When a pet wearing a compatible ultrasonic collar approaches, the door detects the signal and raises the panel to allow entry or exit, then closes behind it. Think of it as a mini garage door for your dog or cat, with the opening worn on their collar.

High Tech Pet says the vertical folding design helps improve insulation and security compared to flap doors, which can let in drafts and are often easier for wildlife or intruders to push through. Because the panel remains closed when not in use, the company says it offers better resistance to weather and temperature loss, although true performance will ultimately depend on the quality of the installation and how it is used.
The door is designed for both dogs and cats, from kittens to dogs over 200 pounds, and is available in multiple sizes and mounting options (door, wall, patio). Its vertical opening also allows it to fit in tight spaces, including window sills or inside door panels that might not accommodate a swinging flap.
The Power Pet Roll-Up Door has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and works with the company’s Power Pet Door app. Through the app, you can open or close the door remotely, set access schedules and adjust modes depending on whether pets are allowed in, out, or both.
The remote control is useful for owners who want to manage pet access while they are away from home or who prefer to keep the door closed during certain hours. As with other connected home devices, long-term reliability and ease of use of the app will be important factors, especially for a product that controls physical access to the home.
The door still operates automatically without manual input when paired with the ultrasonic collar, which acts as the primary trigger for opening. Keep in mind that High Tech Pet has used similar collar-based systems in previous products, relying on ultrasound signals rather than cameras or biometric recognition.
High Tech Pet says the Power Pet Folding Door can be mounted on walls, patio doors, or standard doors – depending on the layout of the home. Installation complexity will vary, especially for wall-mounted setups that require cutting exterior surfaces.
Visually, the door leans toward a modern, minimalist design rather than the utilitarian look typical of older pet doors. This may make it more attractive to homeowners who want pet accessories to blend into contemporary interiors.
The company also emphasizes security, noting that the door is designed to remain locked unless activated by a registered collar or mobile app. This helps address the common concern of people whose homes are located at ground level.
The Power Pet Roll-Up Door retails for $580, which is significantly higher than basic pet doors and even many electronic flap-based models.
High Tech Pet launched its doors in November 2025, with CES 2026 marking its first big public showing.
Smart pet doors are still a relatively small part of the pet technology and smart home world, but they point to a broader trend we’ve seen at CES in recent years. In other words, automation is creeping into everyday tasks that are often overlooked — like letting your pet in and out of the house. Products like the Power Pet Roll-Up Door are less about flashy novelty and more about small but meaningful improvements in comfort, efficiency and safety.
