This electronic Polaroid is powered by your phone’s NFC chip

VidaBay Classic Plus NFC E-Ink Fridge Magnet — which resembles a Polaroid photo — features the same low-power color e-ink displays used in these electronic price tags, but displays images from your phone without the need for a battery.

One of the many unique advantages of E Ink’s e-paper display technology is that it only uses power when changing the text or image on the screen. These small monitors take advantage of this and do not include a battery. Instead, all the power needed to refresh E Ink displays comes from the NFC chip on your smartphone when you transfer images wirelessly using the VidaBay mobile app. Once you view a new image, it will be there indefinitely.
