This goes a long way toward making the laptop feel more premium, especially outside of your gaming sessions. With the RTX 5060, you probably won’t do a lot of gaming at native resolution, but if you also want to use your laptop to watch videos, study, or work, the Alienware laptop’s sharper screen is a great upgrade. I should note that the configuration I tested was also very bright, reaching 557 nits, while this model only says up to 300 nits.

But here’s the thing: I was critical of Alienware 16X Aurora when I reviewed itcoming up with a few hundred equally powered laptops, resulting in similar gaming performance. This made it difficult to justify. However, at $1,100, it’s quite the opposite.

If you’re really looking for a cheap option, priced under $1,000, you have some good options right now. First, you can configure the Alienware 16X Aurora with an RTX 5050, which Reduces the price to $900. This is powerful. You still get a higher-resolution display and extra storage space. You won’t be blown away by the performance of any laptop with an RTX 5050, but it handles light gaming surprisingly well, and can access upscaling and even create multiple frames to boost frame rates when you need it.

But I also recommend a review Acer Nitro V16. It’s one of the cheapest gaming laptops you can buy right now, and it’s actually worth buying, and it’s on sale for $629. Same RTX 5050 and performance for $271 less.

But there are some compromises. The display is obviously worse, and you get half the storage space as the Aurora. But it also comes with a strangely small 135W power supply. This does not provide the laptop with enough power to operate at high levels, and there is no way around this at the moment. So, if you’re playing in Turbo mode, you may see the battery drain while plugged in. The system eventually automatically switches to balanced mode once it reaches a certain battery level. For me, it’s a shame and disappointing that Acer has disbanded it, although it’s not the end of the world for a laptop at this price.

However, the happy medium between these options is the RTX 5060 version of the Alienware 16X Aurora.
