Nothing seems to want to leave much to the imagination. The British company teased its new 4A phone on Monday, but without the bright pink color that some expected. Prospective customers have gotten a look at the latest version of the company’s Glyph notification system, Glyph Bar.
In a Published Monday on XAccompanied by the phrase “designed differently,” the back of the new 4A phone showed nothing — just white and shades of grey. This wasn’t the “bold, new color experience” that CEO Carl Pei said it would be He had hinted at it on Instagramwhich seems to indicate that 4A might try pink.
Post X also revealed Nothing’s new Glyph Bar, which consists of seven small square LEDs to the right of the camera. the Avatar interface It is a light style on all NONE phones. These lights are basically notifications for things like incoming calls and texts, battery charging, deliveries and more, all without turning on the home screen.
A representative for Nothing did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.
The 4A and 4A Pro are the latest models from Nothing, which Pei founded in 2020. The London-based company is known for making Android phones with minimalist designs, a transparent back panel, and a Glyph interface. The company is still a specialized phone manufacturer, with a global market share of 1% (2% in India) And a valuation of more than $1.3 billion.
Nothing was particularly creative amid the focus on simplicity, especially in the Glyph interface. When the company launched its first phone – the Phone (1) – in July 2022, the Glyph consisted of five LED strips. The Phone (2) in July 2023 had 11. A big shift came in July 2025 with the Phone (3) and the introduction of the Glyph Matrix – a circuit of 489 tiny LEDs that enabled the phone to display symbols, such as emojis, for a wide range of notifications.
The Glyph Matrix was introduced with Nothing’s Phone (3) in the year 2025.
CNET’s Katie Collins Phone Check (3) In the summer of 2025, he was impressed by the range of information the Glyph Matrix could display, including the time, phone battery percentage, and pixelated images showing who was calling.
The Glyph Bar on the new 4A will be 40% brighter than the Glyph Bar on previous models, and that’s saying nothing. The company adds that the strip, which contains dozens of small LEDs housed inside small squares, will allow people to configure more notifications with a less distracting design.
For example, you can set a specific light pattern to notify you when a specific person calls or when you receive a text message from someone else. You can also configure a light pattern to notify you when a delivery arrives at your front door.
YouTuber Austin Evans, who has More than 5.7 million subscribers to his channelwhere he tests all kinds of tech products, says he doesn’t find Nothing’s Glyph to be “overly useful,” but it’s a nice change of pace from the typical phone design.
“It’s a cool feature that’s more of a design choice than a practical one, but it’s much better than just a sheet of glass that you cover with a case,” Evans told CNET. “I love the beauty that nothing has to offer. I feel like smartphones have become so bland and clean and boring, and it’s nice to see someone actually doing something different.”
Although the 4A may not be colorful when it launches on March 5, the excitement around Pei’s pink phone could have been around another model, the 4A Pro. This phone, the most advanced phone ever from the company, will be launched alongside the 4A at Central Saint Martin’s, London’s famous school of art and design, on March 5.
One report said 4A could contain Snapdragon 7-series chipwhich provides more powerful capabilities for artificial intelligence, 5G and gaming.
