Wing is bringing drone delivery services to more Walmart stores in 2026. The Alphabet-owned company announced today that its drones will fly over 150 additional locations this year, including four new cities: Los Angeles, St. Louis, Miami and Cincinnati.
In June 2025, the companies said they would do so Expanding their delivery partnership to an additional 100 stores In Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. So far, it has launched at several stores in Atlanta, as well as Walmart locations in Dallas-Forth Worth and Arkansas. They currently operate approximately 27 stores, and with today’s announcement, the goal is to create a network of 270 Walmart locations with Wing drone delivery by 2027.
If Wing can achieve the ambitious timeline it has set for itself, it will represent a significant expansion of what was previously a fairly contained experiment in drone delivery. Drone delivery companies claim that by converting more deliveries to small electric multicopters, fewer polluting trucks will be needed for last-mile deliveries. It is a similar step that is offered by Curbside robotics companies deliver take-out orders For residents of Los Angeles and other cities.
Not only are drones spreading to more cities, Wing says, but demand for delivery service is also growing. “The top 25% of customers ordered 3 times a week, and deliveries increased 3x in the past six months,” the company said.
Wing’s flagship drone is designed to handle payloads up to 2.5 lbs. While its newer models Can handle up to 5 pounds. The company says it has enough battery power to complete 12 miles round trip while cruising at a top speed of 65 mph. The drones use ropes and hooks to pick up small bags and lightweight cardboard boxes from designated distribution sites in Walmart parking lots, then drop them on customers’ front lawns.
