The Telephoto Extender from Vivo and Oppo is coming to iPhone

PGYTech, the accessory manufacturer behind the official extended lenses for flagship phones Vivo and Oppo, has launched a Kickstarter For a new version developed for iPhone.

The RetroVa Vintage Imaging Kit looks a lot like the camera kits for those phones, complete with a custom case, a sliding camera grip with built-in battery and manual controls, and of course a 2.35x telephoto lens extender. This is the first to include a microSD slot. There are versions for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Since it’s unofficial, the close-up will only work in PGYTech’s camera app, not Apple’s app.

Other companies have made lenses like these for iPhones, but rarely do they make complete accessory kits like these. I have tested PGYtech devices on Vivo X200 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 ProI found the lens extender to be extraordinary, and the grip comfortable, although the build quality of the case is a bit lackluster. That’s the main thing that worries me about the $229.95 price here — down to $184 for early Kickstarter orders — though it’s less if you just want the case and grip, not the lens.
