The Royal Shakespeare Company is adapting Macbeth into a neo-noir


MacbethWilliam Shakespeare’s famous play, is being reimagined as an interactive video game with a neo-noir theme – and is being developed in part by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The game is titled Laylais an “exciting screen-life video game” where you can access the personal devices of a modern-day Lady Macbeth, according to a press release.

“Players will be immersed in a stylized, modern vision of modern Iran, where surveillance and tyranny are part of everyday life,” the release says. “Gameplay will feature a mix of live-action cinema within an interactive game format, giving players the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Lady Macbeth and make choices that affect her fate.” It looks like a copy of Macbeth Inspired by Sam Barlow Interactive Thriller movies.

The Royal Shakespeare Company is making the game in collaboration with iNK Stories, an independent New York-based studio and publisher that also made the game. Revolution 1979: Black Friday. It stars Zar Amir in the role of “Lady Macbeth (Lily),” according to the press release.
