The next Overwatch hero is Sierra, but we don’t know much yet

After adding Five new heroes In February, Overwatch gave players another look at the new hero coming in Season 2 next week. While we didn’t get gameplay details, the new hero trailer revealed that the 51st hero is Sierra, and Season 2 will be titled Summit.

The game was dropped First look in Sierra last week, and some details in the new artwork seem to line up with speculation that she’s an ally of damage hero Ashe, whose Deadlock Gang was mentioned in the new trailer.

Overwatch associate game director Alec Dawson said in February that the next hero will be another damage hero with “A really satisfying skill shot“, which we may have hinted at in the trailer when Sierra fired some sort of homing arrow at Emery after he stole something from Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. We also see her using a fully automatic rifle as well as strapping in her drone to do some aerial maneuvers, which could be hints to the rest of her group.

While I love a good skill, I also feel like the game has been plagued by harmful hero releases over the past year – especially heroes that have the ability to quickly take someone out of thin air. Newer damage heroes Anran and Emre did not have this issue, but the previous two heroes, Freja and Vendetta, were constantly banned after release due to their fast time to kill, as well as their ability to constantly surprise enemies. I hope Sierra’s skill is less explosive.

Even before the art was revealed last week, fans began speculating that the hero of Overwatch Season 2 would be Franky, a member of Ashe’s Deadlock Gang. She appears in the novel Deadlock Rebels by Lyndsay Ely, which follows Ash and the hero now known as Cassidy at the beginning of their outlaw careers. In the book, Frankie communicates with the two characters by sending out a small fly-like drone – perhaps a smaller version of the drone in Sierra’s character art.

The clip shows Sierra working to stop the Deadlock Gang (who are helping Emre and Freja steal something for Talon), but it’s unclear if Sierra is another character entirely or if it’s Franky having taken a different path.

The game Talon reign season 1 It concludes next week. The current season kicked off a year-long story arc about Vendetta’s control of Talon and also introduced five new heroes to the roster. The developers have promised another new hero each season throughout the story, and today’s hero trailer gives us some additional hints about Sierra.
