Marshall announced new The music streaming center is called Heddon Which can stream to multiple speakers using Auracast Bluetooth feature This is finally starting to catch on. Similar to Sennheiser BTA1 TV transmitter Announced earlier this week, Heddon doesn’t require wireless audio devices to go through the pairing process to stream audio, as long as they also support Bluetooth Auracast. But while Sennheiser’s transmitter has an HDMI port for streaming audio from movies and TV shows, Marshall’s is music-focused.
The Heddon Center includes a Wi-Fi network used to connect directly to streaming services including Spotify Connect and Tidal. Other platforms like Apple Music can be used, but must be streamed via other devices like your phone that connects to the hub using AirPlay or Google Cast.
Marshall says Heddon’s Auracast broadcast is compatible with his system Acton III, stanmore iii, and Woburn III Bluetooth Speakers. Assuming it’s using a standard Bluetooth connection and not a proprietary app, any wireless speaker, headphones, earbuds, or even hearing aids that support Auracast should be able to access its broadcasts.
Older versions of Marshall wireless headphones, incl Acton II and Stanmore IIthe Heddon can only be connected using RCA to AUX or RCA to RCA cables, and only one at a time. While the hub has two pairs of stereo RCA ports on the back, only one is dedicated to connecting to an amplifier. The other two are connected to ports for connecting older audio devices such as a record player.
The Marshall Heddon is available now for $299.99, more than double the cost of Sennheiser’s BTA1 transmitter at $129.95. When you purchase an Acton III, Stanmore III or Woburn III wireless speaker, Heddon will receive a half-price discount. And if you purchase two or more of the above speakers, Marshall will include the hub for free.
