This makes us particularly excited about the new Eligo Carbon 2which will go on sale next week.
There are a lot of changes with the new 3D printer, despite its similar appearance to a 3D printer Previous model. For starters, there is a filament changer on the printer frame that supports up to four colors or materials per print. Elegoo says it has easy color switching, instant loading, and automatic thread backup. The system also has an RFID auto-reconfiguration feature, which identifies the filament type and suggests the correct setting.
“Even if Centauri 2 is just the first Centauri with a connected color system, it will likely be worth the price of admission,” says James Bricknell, CNET’s managing editor and 3D printing expert. “I have it in my workshop, and my testing is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks.”
The Carbon 2 comes with four thread shifters on the outside that can switch automatically.
There is a 350°C high-temperature hardened steel nozzle that aims to provide better heat and corrosion resistance, which is a good improvement over 320°C carbon. It also supports high-performance threading.
There is a new grid design that allows for more advanced and smarter temperature control. It will automatically adjust the room’s airflow by opening and closing the shutters as needed. It can also change things based on printed materials. For example, with polylactic acid (PLA) filament, it will open automatically at a lower temperature, whereas in the previous model, you had to open the door yourself.

Price and availability
The Centuari Carbon 2 will be available starting January 26, but the company is yet to confirm the price. We’ve reached out to the company for more details and will update this piece when it confirms pricing.
However, to give you a point of reference, when the Centauri Carbon was released, it cost just $300, making it one of our top budget picks. Hopefully the Carbon 2 will have a similar price.
