The Netherlands is the first European country to approve Tesla’s full self-driving

Dutch organizers, RDW announced After more than a year and a half of testing, Tesla has officially approved its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. This makes the Netherlands the first European country to allow the use of FSD on its roads. This could open the door to wider adoption across the EU. Tesla is headquartered in Amsterdam, so it’s fitting that the country is the first to adopt the company’s FSD.

In a statement announcing the approval, RDW said that “correctly used driver assistance systems contribute positively to road safety because the driver is supported in his driving tasks; he is a complement to the driver. Through continuous strict monitoring of the driver in the vehicle, the system is safer than other driver assistance systems.”

The update that implements FSD Supervised (version 2026.3.6) has been updated. It started rolling For a limited number of users. Drivers will need to watch a tutorial and take a test before enabling self-driving, which reminds people that supervised FSD “doesn’t make your car autonomous. Don’t get complacent.”
