I’m not like that EdgeTop smart home experts, but I absolutely love the 4th generation Nest Learning Thermostat. (As does Jennifer Pattinson Toohey, our chief smart home reviewer — she gave it a 9 In its review.) It’s stylish, looks great on my wall, easy to use (and install), and most importantly, it helps me save on my utility bills. It also comes with a temperature sensor, which is useful if you live in a multi-story house, or if one room tends to fluctuate a few degrees more than others.
Amazon and Best buy Both have a thermostat at about $50 off the retail price of $279.99, but if you opt for the brushed gold version, you can get it for $209.99 — the lowest price the device has ever seen since its launch. Speaking as someone who has the polished gold version, it is completely Worth it. I say this as someone who likes cool-coloured decor, but the gold doesn’t clash as much as I feared it would, and it creates a more relaxed ambiance overall.
Also, I can’t stress this enough: If you’re a smart home newbie, the easy installation of the Nest Thermostat is a big plus. Last year, I was A smart homeowner is wrong for the first time I tried installing a different thermostat. I ended up with bloody feet and a $975 bill when the professional electricians told me to “just go with Nest.”
