Robotic lawn mowers They are becoming more popular, although the market is still evolving. At CNET, we’ve tested a number of them, and the ones that stand out the most to us are the ones you use Wire-free navigationWhich means you don’t need to extend wires around your garden to keep it within its boundaries. The new Ecovacs Goat LA3000 and A2000 LiDAR Pro join other cordless robotic lawn mowers such as the Eufy E15, allowing you to set them up and start mowing without wires or significant physical intervention.
Both models can be set up within minutes and set automatically, according to Ecovacs.
The A3000 and A2000 LiDAR Pro use wireless navigation with the company’s HoloScope 360 Dual-LiDAR technology, which combines laser scanning and 3D mapping to avoid obstacles in real time. Ecovacs says the system can be set up in less than a minute and requires no external antennas. This also allows it to work at night and during cloudy days, with an accuracy of 2cm when mowing.
The mowers are powered by a 32-volt battery system and feature a dual-blade cutting design that Ecovacs says results in three times faster mowing time. The A3000 is suitable for larger, more complex yards up to three-quarters of an acre, while the A2000 can handle lawns up to a half-acre. Both models can handle slopes of up to 50% and can handle steeper areas on their own without human assistance.
The mowers can recognize over 200 objects and handle edge trimming on their own.
The other major technological improvement here is AI-powered edge trimming. Called TruEdge, it’s a robotic edger that allows a robotic lawnmower to combine automated mowing with manual edging — something that would normally require a human.
The mowers use flexible, high-speed, rotating threads to cut edges (kind of like a weed grinder), while an AI camera distinguishes grass from non-grass elements. Can define physical boundaries and work around curves, fences and flower beds.
The mowers can recognize and avoid more than 200 objects, including hoses and pet toys, as well as stationary objects such as garden sheds and swimming pools.
the GOAT A3000 It costs $2499, and A2000 LiDAR Pro It costs $1,999 on the Ecovacs website and Amazon. This puts it in line with other cord-free models we’ve tested, like the $2,299 one Juve E15 and the $2,599 Eufy E18.
