the iPhone 17 Pro The launch seems like it was yesterday (it was actually a couple of months ago) and we already have rumors about it iPhone 18 Pro – The most important of which is related to the colors that it may come in. After the debut of the 17 Pro Cosmic orangeIn navy blue and silver, scuttlebutt suggests that Apple could release the iPhone 18 Pro in three strikingly different colors: purple, burgundy and coffee.
Yes, you may be brown iPhone In 2026. And while I can imagine a lot of people wouldn’t opt for a potential poop-colored phone, I’m all for it — albeit on one condition.
iPhone 17 Pro features a new one-piece aluminum design, a change from the titanium frames of previous Pro models. Instead of a glass back, there’s a rectangular panel made of Apple’s Ceramic Shield, a material used in the iPhone’s display since 2020. Envisioning a coffee-colored anodized coating and coffee-colored ceramic glass may not be easy, so I got help.
CNET Creative Director Viva Tung created a coffee iPhone Pro mockup, which you can see above. Yes, it’s like coffee ice cream or a latte. Certainly not as glamorous as a Cosmic orange iPhone 17 Pro Not “meh” like Titanium iPhone 16 Pro.
While rumors specifically point to a coffee color, the “chocolate” brown version here has its own appeal and is bolder (well, as bold as brown).
Tong also made a version of the Apple phone in chocolate brown. This certainly puts the iPhone in emoji color territory, but I’m also getting some strong LG Chocolate vibes. In his country 2007 LG Chocolate review “We were curious to know what kind of chocolate was real,” Ken German wrote for CNET. “Is it Hershey’s or Godiva? The answer seems to lie somewhere in between. It’s beautiful either way.”
So this is my case. What if Apple mixed the recipe for glass and metal materials and took a page from Motorola’s book?
Over the past few years, Motorola has released phones made from materials like vegan leather, wood, and Alcantara. Different materials, especially in Motorola Razr models, add to their appeal. There’s a wide range of colors and textures that make the Razr comfortable to hold and pleasant to touch — compared to the cold metal and glass found on other phones. Another advantage? The fabric does not crack when dropped.
Here’s the back of the Motorola Razr Ultra when it’s closed. The texture of the fabric reminds me of the material used in a car seat belt.
So what if Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro had light brown or coffee-colored vegan leather? I can even imagine them replacing the Ceramic Shield slot on the back of the 17 Pro with a similarly shaped slot made of vegan leather. It would be as if the iPhone had its own built-in case. The contrast between the light brown faux leather and the aluminum body will make it stand out visually.
This should certainly alleviate any concerns people have about the iPhone 17 Pro being susceptible to scratches. It would bring a warmth to the Apple product that has been lacking over the years. More importantly, an iPhone 18 Pro with a coffee-colored vegan leather back could be a way to make a brown iPhone that doesn’t make people think about poop.
