The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max has the brightest phone screen in the world

Huawei has just launched the Mate 80 series of phones in China, and the top-spec 80 Pro Max features a dual-layer OLED display that Huawei says can reach 8,000 nits of peak brightness. The Mate 80 phones are joined by the new foldable Mate X7 phone, which is equipped with an IP59 dust resistance feature.

There are four Mate 80 phones, but the Pro Max is definitely the most exciting. The 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display is said to be exceptionally bright at up to 8,000 nits – more than the 7,000 nits that Realme boasted about in its latest flagships. GT8 Promuch higher than the claimed 3300 nits Pixel 10 Pro. There’s a big caveat to that: The maximum brightness numbers only reflect how bright it is part from the screen under certain conditions, and does not necessarily reflect real-world use. But that still means you’ll expect this panel to be brighter than most, which is important if you live somewhere brighter than me, and Huawei says contrast should be excellent too.

All Mate 80 phones moved to flat screens and square sides, continuing a trend that has seen almost every phone company move away from curves. The designs are otherwise interesting, with a prominent circle on the back to highlight where the phone’s wireless charging coils are located, which combine with the round camera module to resemble a figure eight.

All three phones are powered by Huawei’s own Kirin chipset, and the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design has 20GB of RAM, which is mostly the same as the Pro Max, but with some design flourishes to justify the higher price. It is strange that Huawei did not follow its local competitors in Big battery racingand the Pro Max has a relatively modest 6,000 mAh capacity. The cameras remain a selling point despite the presence of dual periscope lenses on the top model, as well as support for an additional telephoto extender array, which appears to be everyone the anger these days.

Huawei’s new Mate X7 foldable phone Galaxy Z Fold Competitor, also got an ad. Its biggest upgrade is IP58 and IP59 for dust and water resistance, which is almost identical to IP68 for dust resistance. Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It’s also been upgraded with a larger 5,600mAh battery, larger displays, and the usual upgrades to chipset and camera specs.

This was a big launch for Huawei. In addition to the five phones, the company announced new products that include smart watches, tablets, laptops, earphones, televisions and routers. All of them are only available in China at the moment, although it’s possible that some products will get limited international launches in the future.
