Like the X50 Ultra, it delivers excellent cleaning performance, thanks to dual oscillating mop pads that can extend to edges and reach underneath consoles and cabinets. It can also automatically disconnect and reconnect the mop pads when switching between mopping and sweeping.

While the X50 Ultra is almost twice as powerful, the X40 Ultra’s 12,000Pa suction power is still more than capable of handling everyday dirt and debris. It also features an AI-powered dirt detection feature, allowing the robot to slow down and make extra passes over particularly dirty areas. What’s more, the X40 Ultra can empty its trash can, refill its water tank, and clean the washboard, with mop pads that wash and dry themselves with minimal maintenance.

What you don’t get are some of the X50 Ultra’s newer upgrades, including a motorized swing arm that allows it to clear higher sills and an improved dual rubber brush system, which does a better job of picking up soft debris. However, the X40 Ultra still performed very well in our tests, making it a great investment – ​​especially considering it now costs around half as much as its successor.
